The Ripley First Baptist Church Music Ministry

"For it is good to sing praises to our God; for He is gracious,

and a song of praise is seemly." Psalm 147: 1

Welcome to the Music Ministry Page of the Ripley First Baptist Church.  The Psalmist wrote that it is good to sing praises to our God, for He is good and gracious.  Singing praises to a great and mighty God is what Music Ministry is all about at the First Baptist Church.  At the same time, we seek to edifiy and encourage each other as believers, and minister to the Ripley Community through our various choirs and music programs.

During worship times at the church, we sing a variety of music styles, all with the primary focus of drawing us closer to our Heavenly Father.  On any given Sunday, you are likely to hear a contemporary song of praise sung with a full band, or you may hear a traditionaly hymn with piano and full organ accompaniment.  You might sing southern gospel song with piano and rhythm instruments, or a simple chorus of praise designed to lead us into worship.  You may also hear a full choir singing a four part anthem of praise, or you may hear handbell ringers ringing a beautiful arrangement of a familiar song of worship.  Whatever you hear, the goal of our Music Ministry, is to usher each of us into that special presence of God through music.

A variety of choirs and ensembles in which our membes may participate is available.  Our Preschool and Children's Choirs meet on Sunday night as a part of a comprehensive children's discipleship program.  We have a large Youth Choir that sings throughout the year during worship times.  Our Youth Choir also participates in summer mission trips to places like Slidell, Louisiana and Kayenta, Arizona.  Our Adult Choir carries the responsiblity of leading our weekly Sunday morning worship services.  They also present a Community Patriotic Musical and Block Party each summer as a ministry to the Ripley community.  The Senior Adult Choir focuses on ministry to shut-ins and the elderly through our Nursing Home Music Programs.  It is the goal of this group to provide ministry to our area Nursing and Assisted Living facilities serveral times a year.  Other opportunities for service and ministry are provided through our Handbell Choir, our contemporary Praise Band, and our Ladies' Ensemble.  A schedule of rehearsal times is provided below.

Two favorite traditions at our church occur each year in December through our Music Ministry.  The first is our annual Christmas Dinner Theater, presented each year by our Youth Choir and our Adult Choir.  Tickets must be purchased in advance for this exciting and celebrative Ripley Christmas event.  The second tradition is our annual Candles, Carols, and Communion service held each year during Christmas week.  Check our "Events Page" for dates and times.

You are invited and encouraged to find a place of service through music ministry, for it is seemly and good to offer our God a song of praise.
